God’s Law is Beautiful.
It defines a universe in which no one hurts another person. It is a revelation into the behavior of the other Beings in the universe who live in holy and harmless unity with God.
God’s Law is the battlefront under the most severe attacks by Satan. It has been distorted, altered and slandered while Satan tries to remove it completely from our sight.
Yet it is the very standard by which we will live when we are restored to harmony with God. “ ‘They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,’ says the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:9 and Isaiah 65:25)
God has repeatedly tried to bring us the true understanding of His Law because He knows that we need it. It was God the Father who tried to restore His Law to mankind from atop Mount Sinai, but the people put their hands over their ears and said, “Don’t let God speak to us lest we die.” (Exodus 20:19)
So God consoled Moses by telling Him, “I will send them a Prophet, from among their brethren. Him they will hear.” (Deuteronomy 18:15,18; Acts 3:22) When Jesus came as that Prophet—or Spokesman—speaking God’s law in a human voice, many again put their hands over their ears, this time shouting, “Crucify Him!” (Mark 15:13)
After the Cross, God tried for the last time to send us His Law through the voice of His Holy Spirit. He said, “I will put My Law in their minds and write it on their hearts, and I will be their God and they shall be My people.” (Jeremiah 31:34) This time Satan has tried to nail God’s law to the Cross just like he did to His Son.
In all three of His forms—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit—God has tried to bring us His Law. He has no one else to send. It may be easy to tune out the Holy Spirit, but this is the one unforgivable sin against God. (Matthew 12:31) If we continue to hold our hands over our ears, we will never be restored to unity with God. And mankind will never find peace.
Let us search the Scriptures for truth on this subject and pray with the Psalmist, “Open my eyes that I may see Wondrous things from Your Law!” (Psalm 119:18)
